Area Rug Cleaning

Oriental & Area Rug Cleaning

Our eight step cleaning system will leave your rugs looking new and fresh

Our 12-Step Carpet Cleaning Process

Experience the Difference

In-plant rug cleaning is recommended for Oriental Rugs and loose woven rugs. They should not be cleaned on location like wall to wall carpet. Father & Son cares for the finest to the most basic rugs from around the world.

We will pick your rug up and bring it to our special cleaning plant where it will receive our very thorough Eight Step Cleaning System to get maximum soil and spot removal. Having your rug cleaned in our plant allows us to give it several treatments for a more thorough cleaning, controlled drying, and the use of various tools that are not available on location.

Our regular pricing includes moving basic furniture and smaller items. Beds, dressers, and heavier pieces cost extra to move. One of our consultants can quote the exact cost to move any heavier pieces.

State-of-the-Art Rug Cleaning Equipment

We have exciting news for you! As you know, Father & Son has been in business for 16 years. Our rug cleaning has always been the best in Montgomery County, but we continue to strive to bring even better quality service to you. We have State-of-the-Art Rug cleaning equipment that will assure that your rugs will be cleaned better than ever!

Our New Eight Step Cleaning System

Step 1: Pre-Inspection and Pick Up

We will determine as much as we possibly can about the type of rug and inherent qualities that may affect cleaning. We will outline the expected results and cleaning “prescription”. Our company will come to your home to pick up your rug, or you may drop it by our shop.

Step 2: Dry Soil Removal

We use a variety of techniques to ‘dust’ the rugs from the front and back. We also use compressed air, a pile lifter, and special vacuum attachments to remove dry soil from your rug.

Step 3: Pre-Condition

Depending on fiber content and soiling type, the rug will be pre-treated to emulsify the soils.

Step 4: Pre-Spot and Fringe Preparation

Any potentially difficult spots will be pre-treated with special solutions to increase chances of removal. The fringe is also pre-treated for maximum soil removal.

Step 5: Wash

Our wash pit will allow us to clean your rugs gently and thoroughly. Soil is effectively removed by the gentle, flow of the wash water without the use of brushes or other mechanical forces that could damage rug fibers. Our rug washing solutions not only provide a thorough cleaning, but they ensure that cross contamination and dye transfer is impossible during the washing process.

Step 6: Rinse

We remove over 90% of moisture from rugs before hanging to dry. This allows heavy and dense textiles to be processed quickly and efficiently. Additionally, this helps to remove urine and other contaminants from rugs. Using a combination of water irrigation, and effective chemistry, contaminants are flushed out of rugs better than any other method!

Step 7: Dry and Finish

Once the rug is thoroughly rinsed, it is hung for final drying in a controlled environment. When the rug is dry, it is combed and finished with soft groomers made for specialty rugs.

Step 8: Post Inspection and Delivery

Our cleaning specialists will give the rug a final inspection, and release it for pick up or delivery. Your rug will be wrapped to protect it from dust and environmental soils until it is picked up or delivered. Upon delivery, we will lay the rug for you.
